RENSHAW WINS QATAR

That's right Mark Renshaw won the general clasification and a stage @ Tour of Qatar, sprinting for himself! Was an Aussie battle with Haussler and Renshaw going head to head at the top of the classification! Not much in the way of scenery during the coverage on Eurosport but some interesting racing none the less. Well done to Mark, great to see the Aussies mixing it up. FS

Don't like to throw to many track bikes up but in a world full of rubbish over priced 'collab' fixies this Don Walker stands out as a beautiful example of combining aesthetics and performance. See more here.

SUN RIDE 13/02

Interactive Ride Map: Link HERE

MEET @ 7.30am in Hindmarsh Sq. I'll be racing Sun so won't make it to the ride. The route is a great ride filled with small climbs and descents, and no real long slogs with one Category 2 climb (Norton's) and four short Cat 5 climbs dotted along the way, regroup @ the top of each climb. A short route but hard work @ 60km with short cuts and longer routes available (see below). Coffee @ Ruby's in Sterling on the main road. -FS

Full Route: Norton's - Ashton - Woodshill Rd - Uraidla - Carey Gully - Sterling (Coffe @ Ruby's in Main St) Upper Sturt - Belair - Windy Point - City.

Short cuts: Uraidla - Piccadilly Rd - Sterling (Coffee @ Ruby's)
Old Freeway home.

Harder Route: from Ashton - Basket Range - Forest Range - Deviation Rd - Carey Gully - Sterling. (If this is to soft - your not riding hard enough!) (Coffee @ Ruby's)

SUNDAY RIDE

Hi All. With racing on this week, the BG ride is scheduled to be a beach ride so could be a good one to make an apperaance at if you've not been out for a bit.

Frank's asked me to look after the Sunday Ride for a bit while the racing crew are off racing, but I've just buggered my knee so I won't be out on Sunday.

Anyways - Sunday is also the Brighton Jetty Classic swim, so would be a good week to ride north to Semaphore rather than do a Hallet Cove ride.

Same bat time - same bat channel. Enjoy the ride for those that can make it.

Billsy.

VELODROMEXTRIC

Found @ridetheblackline Images from Pocket Lint.

Scalextric’s have bought out a awesome looking 2012 London Olympic Velodrome set. The above shows a cross over point and track narrow for bumping. This looks awesome just needs to be like 6 tracks wide and even more banked corners! See details at Pocket Lint. FS

FASTER THEN A SPEEDING BOB-O

Jack bobridge has smashed the superman world record in the 4000m individual pursuit @ the track nationals pulling a 4.10.534! Kryptonite - The new nickname might stick, the two previous fastest times (4.11.114 and 4.13.353) where set by Chris Boardman in the now banned superman position. So fast, averaging over 60km after his first 250m?!?
To add to the depth of talent in AUS Rohan Dennis (SA) went faster then Bobridges previous best of 4.14.427 (previously 3rd fastest time in the world - fastest non superman) with a 4.13.399. This makes Rohan the second fastest non superman and 4th fastest ever! AUS cycling - kick'n @ss! FS

SUNDAY CRITERIUMS

The NCC Crits are on again Sundays which means they will clash with BG Sun Rides. Bills-e will be organising the Sun rides and will elaborate on the program leading into Coast 2 Coast, post coming later this week.

Coast to coast clashes with the State Criterium Championships @ Whitmore Sq on Sunday March the 6th. This is a great day of racing with graded crits on a tight but smooth course around the square and is great for spectators with the full course in view. Graded Crits + Championship race and a Wheel Race. The Wheel Race is awesome, it’s a 3 lap handicap sprint race made up of the top 6 riders from each graded crit, all racing at once. You start track style clipped in being held at your handicap and when the gun goes you just have to give it to the bike for 2-3 laps (depends on your handicap) and try to hold off the scratch starters. The finish is usually close. I recommend every one giving this day a go - great for spectating - interesting course, and everyone can have a crack @ getting in the Wheel Race. In 08 they held a non qualifiers wheel race for those not in the top 6.

Reg Park Sun Crits – Nominate on the day like Vic Park. Regency is a good course, a bit tighter then Vic park but similar in the way it really is a course of two straights. Corners are a little more technical and the pack is more single file through them, so tends to stretch out more than Vic Park, and races often open up a bit more in my experience though the pack sprint usually prevails in the mid grades I’ve raced the last two years. Not much of a spectators course so I’d leave the loved ones at home – no toilets, or much to sit on or shade, and usually no food or drink available (bring your own everything). FS
