KKK RIDE REPORT

Thanks to those who came out and made a good ride out of a miserable morning. I think a great ride was had by all with around 14 BG getting to Lobethal. Some good groups starting to form in the pack, and on a whole the group has come along way in the last two years since the KKK.

Look to ride with each other on the road, even if it means sitting up a bit, regrouping and working with each other, stronger riders doing more work, makes it more enjoyable for everyone, and keeps it safe! It might look like us boys on the front just rip shreds off each other but we regroup, and ride together, cause we know we are stronger together then as individuals. Don't get me wrong - a little healthy competition is always great fun! You can still race for any nominal point on the road just work together to get there! FS

KKK - 2011

KKK - Kat Killer Klassic

Sunday 27th

Meet Hindmarsh Sq @7.30am

or Tower @ 8.00am

KKK Route map here 76Km

KKK Lobethal loop - Norton's - Forest Range - Lenswood - Lobethal

Cuddly Creek - Gorge - ADL

Short cut : From Lenswood - Fox Creek (Coldstore Rd) - Cuddly Creek - Gorge - ADL. 69km

Long Cut : (need more training?) Gorge - Corkscrew Rd (Mad steep) - Montacute Rd - ADL

The Kat Killer Klassic honours the anniversary of one cats tragic death and Dave’s spectacular fall. For those not in the know early 2009 David C, an original BG and mad cyclist took a bad fall when his paths crossed with a suicidal kitty that resulted in the cat ending up in Dave’s front wheel and subsequently jamming into his fork effectively stoping his front wheel ‘dead’ and ejecting him into the bitumen. The cat survived the ordeal but passed later that night.

The BG can’t thank the owner of the cat enough for her assistance with an unconscious David and we respectfully hope the cats death was not to traumatic – R.I.P.P.

MILAN - SAN REMO

Pics via Steephill.tv by Sirotti

Bit late on the post but Def worth a mention; Goss toke milan San Remo, the first big classic of the season, one of the longest @ 300km, a big win for the young Ozzie. Been lots of talk about Goss this season showing some real form early, and he now has his reward.

Classy win beating Beating Fabian Cancellara and Philippe Gilbert, Scarponi, Ballan, Pazzato, Nabali, all class acts! Though Goss was the only sprinter left, he road himself in to that very select group of riders all big one day threats, and don't forget Cancellara can sprint - see St 3 tour De France 2007!

"Goss Perfecto" Don't need to know Italian to understand! See final Km'z @ worldcyclingchannel.youtube

RIDE REPORT UPDATE

Gav won the sprint!

SUNDAY RIDE REPORT

Sunday saw the BG return to the beach after a lengthy absence over the summer. We had 21 riders turn out with a few new riders joining in which is good to see. Something about riding the flats seems to attract big numbers.

The Outer Harbour sprint was run and won (but I was so far from the action I've got no idea who won it).

Hope to see you out next weekend.

Billsy.

TIRRENO - ADRIATICO, CADEL GRIT!

Check the last 2km - Vid via World Cycling Channel

Cadel's look'n the goods early in the season leading the Tirreno-Adriatico into the final TT stage. Cadel cemented his lead with a brilliant ride on stage 6 smashing it up on the Madonna del Monte finishing climb.

The video of the last 2km of stage 6 (above) has to watched - Cadel fends of attacks left and right, from some quality ridders before smashing his rivals with some pure Aussie grunt! Watch at least the last 2km! So worthy!

Great to see BMC control the race and dictate the pace with Ballan and Hincapie providing good support for Cadel till the final climb. But that said Cadel's been holding off multiple attacks form team mates on Lampre and Liquigas exposed on the final climbs with no one else from BMC in that elite final climb finishing group. That said BMC did real well getting him to the final climb of st 6 and he showed thats all he needs!

On ya Del! Pic via Steephill.TV

In typical Cadel style he couldn't have looked more awkward in victory salute across the line. He's in need of a few victory salute repeats in the training program - and at the very least check this Cycling Tip's post - Victory salute like a PRO!

Check Wades's exert of an unpublished interview with Cadel on the subject of his World title low profile victory salute @ CyclingTips tirreno-adriatico-stage-6

Cadel pulling back Scarponi on Stage 4. Pic via Steephill.TV

Also so impressed with Evan's epic push to the line on stage 4 to minimise losses after Scarponi's well timed attack. If you liked the stage 6 video, check the stage 4 finish, Cadel's effort to drag back Scarponi = true grit! Stage 4 video @WCC.youtube

I love Italian race's, pure hard man racing, long stages, gnarly little back country roads, finishing on sharp little climbs, 16-19% steep cobbled finishes, smoking hot podium girls, and a certain sense of disorganisation and unpolished coverage! So Euro, so Italian, so rad! FS

Thanks to Eurosport via Foxtel for the TV coverage each night + highlights on the Eurosportnews channel, and the World Cycling Channel for the youtube packages, and Steephill.TV for there total package - best bits of the web - videos, previews, pics, news reports. As always thanks Cycling Tips for all your content.

CYCLOCROSS IN ADL!!!

Photo via cxmagazine

Cyclocross (CX) is on in Adelaide this winter! PACC are organising two three race series this winter season to be held in the park lands! It's going to be a hell time - so amped on this news! Thanks to PACC for putting it together already putting together a ghetto single speed cross bike out spare parts!

If you want to get involved and don't hold a current CA race licence you can get a three day club membership with PACC for the series instead of buying a full race licence for the year.

Make sure you register your interest cx.pacc.org.au

All manner of bikes will be welcome to enter - must have two brakes to be legal, a legal helmet (AUS standards). So dust off the Mountain Bike your original BMX, make a hybrid mud ripping beast or just bring what ever you've got!

Should be good viewing for spectators too! CX is about the crowd so if your not getting involved bring a few brews a cowbell and get your lungs in to top gear yelling at mad bastards!

If you don't know what CX is, basically it's similar to a cross country steeple chase running race but done on a modified road bike, its run like a crit so an 1hr of pain is the standard race. So there is hurdles and steep climbs and obstacles you have to dismount for and run carrying your bike, and importantly it will get real muddy and there will be crashes!

Check this video out; its all you need to know, see here. FS
