ADDITIONAL REMEDIAL RIDE THIS WEEKEND

Bastardi's (yes I know that this is poor grammar)

I’m planning a little remedial ride for this Sunday in addition to our official route this week. My sense of balance is back but my fitness has long abandoned me after six months of being glued to the couch (or anything that didn't feel like it was moving).

Start at same place/time as normal ride, but I'm planning on doing the old BG beach route down Anzac Hwy and out to Bower Rd roundabout, coffee at Henley.

No obligation, as I’d otherwise just ride it on my own, but you’re more than welcome to come along if you've been away/off the bike/lazy/injured/new parent etc and want to get back into riding with the BG without feeling like you need to keep up with the regular pace.

This won't be a regular thing and won't split our bunch into multiple speed groups - it's just that I'm starting my fitness from scratch and need some easy riding to get back into things after such a long time with zero physical activity. At the moment I'd get dropped early into a flat BG ride (ie. before the Entertainment Centre) and I don't find that too appealing for my first ride back. Hills still feel out of the question for another few weeks.

I've totally lost touch with who is riding regularly these days and who's not been out, but I figure that there might be a few BG out there who have not been out for a while and might find this sort of ride a good way to start up again.

No sprints, chatting pace only, good times guaranteed, just like the old days.

BG RIDE... FOR THE LADIES

Kate M and myself have been riding together now for a couple of months, and we'd like to extend the invitation to other women who are either thinking about getting back on the bike, and those that are keen to start riding.

So not to conflict with the existing BG rides, we have been heading out Saturday mornings and have generally been heading up to the hills, but we are happy to do some flatter rides to suit other abilities. There is also the possibility of mid-week rides if we get enough interest.

Please tell any women you think might be interested to come out riding with Kate and Kate!

Contact me through Frank or keep an eye on the blog for more information.

KKK - SUN MARCH 14TH

KAT KILLER KLASSIC

The Kat Killer Klassic is on Sunday the 14 of February. This will honour the anniversary of one cats tragic death and Dave’s spectacular fall. For those not in the know this time last year David C, an original BG and mad cyclist took a bad fall when his paths crossed with a suicidal kitty that resulted in the cat ending up in Dave’s front wheel and subsequently jamming into his fork effectively stoping his front wheel ‘dead’ and ejecting him into the bitumen. The cat survived the ordeal but passed later that night.

The ride will start from Hindmarsh Sq @7.30am and the Tower @ 8.00am Sunday 14th Feb.

The BG can’t thank the owner of the cat enough for her assistance with an unconscious David and we respectfully hope the cats death was not to traumatic – R.I.P.

NORTONS TT 03 REPORT

Good effort by most to improve their times and if we gave out awards, one needs to go to Aldo who should be very proud of his efforts, taking three minutes off and moving down the board! The handicapping seems to be getting better with a field of 6 crossing the line at almost the same time, with another couple in the finishing straight. The jerseys came out a gem with the pack looking the part thanks to Warwick, Steve and Alf! Was great to see Adam back out on the bike after his spill early in the season! All the best to Geoff Stevens with his upcoming appointment with the knife. Again well done to all, with some good times on the board!

SUNDAY RIDE

The Course Director has determined that the ride this weekend will be a longer hills ride (particularly given the forecast cooler conditions)

Start 7.30am at Hindmarsh Square - Unley Road - Windy Point - Main Rd, Belair - Coromandel Pde, Blackwood - Murrays Hill Rd, Coromandel Valley - Main Rd, Chandlers Hill - Clarendon Rd - Clarendon - Kangarilla Rd - Kangarilla - Dashwood Gully Rd - Meadows (coffee and cake at Bakery) - Battunga Rd - Echunga - Aldgate/Strath Rd - Mylor - L onto Stock Rd then Aldgate Valley Rd to Aldgate - Mt Barker Rd, Stirling - R onto Pomona Rd - L onto Old Mt Barker Road - L at monument onto Piccadilly Rd, Crafers - thru roundabout onto Old Freeway course back to City.

Approximate distance: 100km subject to where you live.

This is a great ride with some challenging long climbs and long flat sections. It is a good practice for the TDU and it would be beneficial for all to participate. See you all on Sunday morning.

TUE RIDE - NORTONS

Tuesday night ride is up Nortons this week 6.15pm @ Tower Hotel. I'll be racing @ vic park, so all the best. - FS

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

SUN RIDE 18 OCT

This Sunday's ride will be the first of a few test rides for the Challenge Tour as the route consists of pretty much the first part of the ride

Plan is to head up the gorge, through Cudlee Creek (for an early coffee while the group is still together), then up Fox Creek and on to Woodside and back through Crafers.

Map route is here.

Some escape routes exist - I'm thinking of bailing at the top of Fox Creek and heading back the way we came - or you could head back up through Basket Range, which I might consider if I'm still alive after the Fox Creek climb.

Meeting time is 7.30 in city or 8 at the tower.

Hope to see you there.

Billsy.
