So the rendition boys had their crack last week, with Damien Howson beating Jack Bobridge's record in an awesome time of 11 minutes 29 seconds. Now its the BG's time to check how they have improved over the summer, and whether they should be challenging the rendition boys next year.

Good Luck

SUN RIDE NORTONS TT1 - NOV 20

NORTONS TT
MEET 7.30AM @ HINDMARSH SQ
START 8.00AM @TOWER

Followed by - Pain Lives Here / Harden up / Soft option

I expect a good turnout for the TT. These have been a great ride in our past and with no racing on this weekend it would be good to see majority of the BG’s out. The Norton’s TT, is the first TT of three part series, running consecutive Sundays, to test your fitness at the start of summer. We will do a second round in Feb, giving you an opportunity to compare how you have done over the summer season. Thanks AW & BV for organising. Instructions and maps in full post. FS

BG CALENDAR

Hi all
An updated calendar has been posted in the Sunday Ride Program section.
There has been a bit if consultation with a few of the regulars. However, if you have any complaints or suggestions for improvements please send to me.

This week starts the first of three time trials in a row to help measure fitness progress from last year, with a repeat in February to see whether your work through the summer paid off.

SUN RIDE - PAIN IS A WAY OF LIFE

SUN 09/10 BIG HILLS
Belair - Hahndorf
Meet @ 8:00am City

Righteo! Time to get serious, Amy's Ride is four weeks away. Last time we did this, Frank was still recovering from his Dad's 60th the night before, this time around he's been getting ready for the Crit season, either way you know he'll make you hurt.

Read description below and know what route your doing when you rock up. Options for 90, 75, 65km. Only 90km for the long ride but your legs are going to file for a restraining order after this abuse. Two options to get to Hahndorf - Plenty of options to get home (probably best sorted out in Hahndorf). All meet at Hahndorf for coffee.

The harder route has a steep climb and is a little longer to Sterling. Saddle Hill is the climb - easier then checkers more of a long grind then a smash fest (most BG will be fine). Both options home form Hahndorf will climb a section of road from Verdun to Carey Gully that runs parallel to Greenhill (Beaumont Rd - Gum Flat Rd). AW

See below for route directions - map

PAIN IS TEMPORARY 75km
Old Freeway - Sterling - Mylor - River Rd - Hahndorf (coffee) 35km
Verdun - Beaumont Rd - Gum Flat Rd - Carey Gully - Summertown - Greenhill. 30km
SHORT CUT: back thru Mylor - Sterling - Old Freeway (-2km easier climb)

PAIN IS A WAY OF LIFE 90km
Belair - Saddle Hill Rd (Steep) - Sterling - Mylor - River Rd - Hahndorf (coffee) 40km
Verdun - Beaumont Rd - Gum Flat Rd - Carey Gully - Deviation Rd - Forest Range - Ashton - Marble Hill - Montacute. 50km
SHORT CUT: From Carey Gully - Summertown - Greenhill (-20km)

Summers a coming and the roads will be heating up soon so its time to get your base miles under your belt to push on into the season!

SUN RIDE 31/7 - MEADOWS LOOP

SUNDAY RIDE

One of Brian's favourite rides this week, and with forecast fine conditions would be a good one to test out the legs on a bit longer ride. I'm thinking 9am at the BP servo for those that want a head start. As per the last few winter hills rides the aim will be to stick together, with regular regroups at the tops of hills so everyone stays involved.

Start 8:00am at Hindmarsh Square - Unley Road - Windy Point - Main Rd, Belair - Coromandel Pde, Blackwood - Murrays Hill Rd, Coromandel Valley - Main Rd, Chandlers Hill - Clarendon Rd - Clarendon - Kangarilla Rd - Kangarilla - Dashwood Gully Rd - Meadows (coffee and cake at Bakery) - Battunga Rd - Echunga - Aldgate/Strath Rd - Mylor - L onto Stock Rd then Aldgate Valley Rd to Aldgate - Mt Barker Rd, Stirling - R onto Pomona Rd - L onto Old Mt Barker Road - L at monument onto Piccadilly Rd, Crafers - thru roundabout onto Old Freeway course back to City.

Approximate distance: 100km subject to where you live.

Sunday ride map link

This is a great ride with some challenging long climbs and long flat sections. It is a good hitout for the winter and it would be beneficial for all to participate. See you all on Sunday morning.
