Sunday Ride - Beach
Sundays Ride was left flexible as a "Roads Less Traveled" ride. However given the big week most people had last week with the TDU changes, we have decided a beach ride is in order.

At the end of the day people lots of people are doing there own thing Sunday ranging from corporate hospitality (*$&#$*) to family picnics . Hence we will stick with the normal Beach recovery ride.

Sunday Ride - Hahndorf via Uraidla (NCC Kermesse)
This Sunday is the start of the TDU week. Sadly there is no Ride like Crazy this year. So we will give the legs a light hills Sundays Ride to get the week kicked off. The route will be Hahndorf via Uraidla via Norton Summit. The exact route to Hahndorf to be decided on Sunday as will the return leg.

We are going past Uraidla as the Norwood Cycling Club is having it annual RAPHA Uraidla Kermesse https://www.facebook.com/events/1189715774524302/ and the BG's will have a few mates riding.
The weather looks good for Sunday but Tuesday and Wednesday look like great days to taper for Saturday so get out and make the most of it.
I will issue our TDU ride post on Monday.

Sunday is No Excuses for 2019
This Sunday’s ride is the No Excuses ride Outer Harbor Via
Port Road. It’s the first No Excuse ride of the Year. I have noticed lots of Strava
entries with people putting in solid rides over the break so this is a great
one to head out with the boys.

Anniversary Kit Order Extension
The
date for 10 year Anniversary Kit orders has been extended to Monday the 28th of
January 2019. Please see the blog for details.
Real Time Communications
The
BG communication methods of the Blog with a monthly email were right up with
the times in 2008. However it’s been obvious for a while that communications
are less than perfect and are definitely one way with no options for riders to
give feedback. We feel this is hindering the group getting out and enjoying
cycling so the admin group have been playing around with different communication
options. A few of you would have noticed the Facebook Group and the enablement
of comments on the Blog.
Whatsapp
Michael
did some research of what other groups use and it has been decided that we will
use 2019 to transition the BG over to real time communications using the WhatsApp messenger platform. The Benefits are:
·
Whatsapp
is getting very popular so there is a good possibility most people are using it
anyway
·
It
is phone based (you can get a desktop version if you like)
·
The
application supports Android, iPhone and Windows phones
·
We
have set up a BG Cycling Club group that will allow ride information to be
broadcast to the group privately. You will get a Notification pop up informing
you of rides or changes.
·
As
the group is private you will be able to respond to the BG’s without the entire
planet seeing what is going on
·
As
its phone based it also has the advantage of allowing us to contact people while
on the road.
·
Private
invitations to other rides during the week are another benefit. These are encouraged
as long as they don’t interfere with the Sunday ride.
If
I can encourage you to download Whatapp from Play or Apple Store and register
an Account. It’s free. We will start
sending invites out in January post break.
The
Blog, Strava Club, Facebook and Flickr accounts will be retained but comments
on blog posts will be disabled.
2019 Ride Guide
The clangor count on the 2018 Ride program was
higher that I would have liked. Hence I will start early this year and give a
longer period for feedback and review
