Option 1: Old Freeway, Aldgate Valley Road via Mylor

Option 2: Belair Road Then Upper Sturt or Saddle Hill Road, Aldgate Valley Rd.


If the slower group choose option one then both groups should reach Hahndorf at same time. Return via Aldgate Valley or German Town Hill.

KRUSTY'S XMAS EVE RIDE

Krusty's Christmas Eve Ride was brilliant, about 60 riders attended, plus a handful of professionals including Bobridge, Porte and Roe. Had a great chat with Richie for about 40km's, great bloke, really down to earth, pretty cool talking about this years tour from his perspective as a rider and mine as a tourist and fan in France. Thanks to Kristin Lewis (Krusty) for organising and Michelle Cunningham (pro cycling tours) in the chase car, suppling an added level of safety and free lollies and water along the way. Thanks to SDW and JB for representing the BG's, also to all the other riders, was a great safe organised double pace line almost all the way. FS

CHRISTMAS RIDE PROGRAM

Ok, as Frank discussed its all a bit quiet over the Christmas/New Year period due to the two biggest days falling on Sundays. During this period the standard rides will switch to Saturday. However, if you want to go for a ride or are planning one and wouldn't mind having a few others jump on then send an email to Frank, Billsy, Sam or me, and we'll log it here....

 

 Thu 22nd: Nortons Repeats meet at the tower - 6:30pm

Sat 24th: BG Beach run (7:30am at Hindmarsh Sq)

Mon 26th: Lobethal via Nortons - Return via Gorge (Karpy & Andrew) 8am at the tower

(Pretty sure there is a crit race on at Glenelg too.)

Sat 31st: BG Hills Run (7:30am at Hindmarsh Sq)

BG WRAP UP

A brillant year of riding. Thru a tuff winter we enjoyed exceptional numbers  and in the last couple of months the group rides have been impressive in spirit and pace. The BG is a diverse brethren forged in pain, sweat, caffeine, cadence and laughter. The BG seems to ability to inspire and include, while harbouring and encouraging true potential, bring the best out of each other, is its endearing quality. Merry christmas BG's, I personally owe each of you for inspiring me to be a fitter better cyclist and ultimately person.

Last of all, we notched up our first placing in A's last weekend. 3 BG's racing A's. Never dreamed i'd see 3 BG's racing let alone, lined up rolling into the final corner, primed for the sprint, in A's. A true achievement for the BG's at large. KAS 4th in A's followed close by FS after JC's lead out. We may not have sponsored bikes and kits, but we've got the best post race fruit cake and sandwiches!

Enjoy the holidays BG and hope to see you all fit and healthy on the roads in the New year. As always don't back off on the bike, holidays just mean an excuse to ride longer and as always harder!

Keep an eye on the blog for rides during the holidays. As the next two rides fall on Christmas Day and New Years Day i'm bring them forward to the respective Saturdays. FS

Anyone using any gps type device can sign up for free, and at the moment only Sam, jon, and myself are signed up for the BG's so if you want to see how well your times add up jump on board.

WHAT YOU MISSED LAST NIGHT

With the Crit Track closed until the end of December I took on the Kensington Road Lookout climb. As one of the few bigger guys left in this bunch I can be honest and say it was bloody hard work but its a super little effort if you're a bit pushed for time but still want a good test.

This view is your reward. Check it out some time if you've not already had a go at it. Just get on Kensington Road and keep riding east. You'll know when you're at the top, just snake past the gate and keep going.
