Sunday - Hallett Cove - Long Beach Ride (Southerly Start)

This Sundays Ride is a somewhat welcome return to the beach. 

We are heading to Hallet Cove first and then returning to Glenelg for Coffee. Coffee will be quick as we are then heading back along the Northerly beaches toward Outer Harbor. 

This Ride gives lots of options from a the normal Short Hallet Cove ride @ 65 km  to the full Outer Harbor return @ 95km. You can also choose to bail at Henley, Bower Rd etc as long as your prepared to enjoy the chorus of "Saawft"

The Kat Killer Klassic Lobethal loop (78km from the city): 

Norton's - Ashton, Basket Range, Forest Range, Lenswood - Lobethal, Cudlee Creek

Then Home via Gorge - Adelaide or for the brave Corkscrew Rd - Montacute Rd - Adelaide

Short cut : From Lenswood - Fox Creek (Coldstore Rd) - Cudlee Creek - Gorge - ADL. 69km

The Kat Killer Klassic honors the anniversary of an unfortunate mouse, one cats tragic death and Dave’s spectacular fall. For those not in the know, early 2009 David C, an original BG and mad cyclist took a bad fall when his paths crossed with a suicidal kitty that resulted in the cat ending up in Dave’s front wheel and subsequently jamming into his fork effectively stopping his front wheel ‘dead’ and ejecting him at speed into the bitumen. The cat survived the crash but passed away later that night.

Its slightly earlier this year in the hope we might snag a nice day.

The BG can’t thank the owner of the cat enough for her assistance with an unconscious David and we respectfully hope the cats death was not to traumatic – R.I.P.P.

Sunday is Easter Sunday and also happens to coincide with No-Excuses and the end of daylight savings. Given Easter Sunday is a family day we will accept this as an excuse. For those that want to sneak in a ride.

All Sundays ride is Hahndorf via Freeway return to satisfy any cravings for German cakes you might have. 

Meet:

•  in the city at 7:30 am
•  at the Toll gate at 8:00 am
• at the Bollards at 8:30 am

Sunday Ride Program 2018-2019

Here is the 2018/19 Ride guide.  I would like to thank Michael Richardson and Brian Virgo for helping plan this year. Last year worked well and we avoided any major clangers but as usual a few more sets of eyes reviewing the new guide wont go astray. If you notice anything yell.  

Bastardi Gruppetto/Grassi 10 Year Anniversary

• 2018 is the BG's 10th Anniversary as a riding group. The celebration ride is set for Sunday the 15th July 2018 and will reprise the original route ridden by the BG daddy's. Anzac Highway turning at Bower road. We will be doing a bit more about this closer to the day.

The Basics

• The First Sunday of the month is the no excuses Beach Ride. Outer Harbor via Port road 
• A couple of Roads Less traveled rides have been included to add some variety
• Winter Rides are May 20th through to August the 19th. They are all tagged as beach rides but we will meet in the city and choose from the close hill loops when weather permits
• Mothers day is a no-ride day and the BG end of season break 
• 7:30am starts will start on the Fathers day weekend and precede Daylight savings itself starting 
• The TDU Reconnaissance ride is scheduled for  November the 25th  to avoid the silly season.
• The Club lunch will be in December and is set down as a repeat of this year. We will however examine a Beach option on the same pattern as suggested around the 3rd or 4th beer this year.

Xmas and New Years

This year Christmas eve and New Years eve fall on Mondays. We recognize that this is a family time of year so the Sunday's preceding have been scheduled as beach rides. We will seek consensus as to what to do nearer the day. 

Whats New/Different/Noice :

• The southern hills loop suggested (but never riden) by Dan becomes a regular ride. The "Guzej Special Stage (Mylor via Cherry Gardens with Steep Hills, Strade Bianche and a really nice Valley road)"
• We will try a couple of alternate beach rides that add length to the southerly loops
• We will continue to experiment with a few split bunch rides. A Fast group will head off on a bigger loop with the Slow group doing one of the standard loops with both Groups together for the first part of the ride 
• A suggestion has been made to have a crack at a winery trip instead of a pub crawl. The idea is we pick a wine region and go tasting. This will require both sag and purchase transportation wagons but not the obscene deposit the pub bikes require.
• With the end of the Ride like Crazy we have left that Sunday slot flexible to see what might occur on that day.

This also marks the end of the current ride calendar. The ride scheduling committee has been hard at work sweating over the smallest details of the new schedule. We will be posting the new Ride calendar soon and getting it ratified at a AGM on a subsequent ride. 

In essence we are continuing the last calendars while trying out a couple on New Routes.
