Sunday Ride - Outer Harbor via Anzac Hwy - Social Pace

Sundays ride is a Beach ride Outer Harbor via Anzac Highway.

We have taken the feedback that the last Beach Ride was a tad quick. The aim of the BG is for everyone to come out and enjoy their cycling regardless of form. So we discussed how to make the rides approachable and encourage people to come out.

So this Ride is a BG Social Pace ride which will work like this.  Brian has volunteered to act as commissionaire an enforce the speed limit. This is really a codification of what we try to do anyway with a speed limit and regroup points.

  • City - Glenelg - Last Roundabout  on Military rd ( the white house) - Social Pace (max 34 kph wind dependent)
  • Last Roundabout  to Caravan Park crossing hump - Fast guys can stretch their legs
  • Cafe Salsa (Regroup)
  • Cafe Salsa to West Lakes Boulevard lights  - Social Pace (max 34 kph wind dependent)
  • West Lakes Boulevard lights to Bower Rd  - Fast guys can stretch their legs
  • Regroup around the corner on the Esplanade
  • Esplanade to Marina - Social Pace
  • Marina to Outer Harbor - Sprint
  • Regroup Outer Harbor
  • Outer Harbour to West Lakes Boulevard lights  - Social Pace (max 34 kph wind dependent)

Sunday's Ride is the Reverse Meadows Loop - Civvies Week

With the weather looking cracking, Sunday's Ride is the reverse Meadows loop, brought forward by two weeks.

The route from the city will be Belair, Blackwood, Clarendon to Meadows, returning via Echunga and Mylor.

The ride will be at a modest pace with no drops.

Meet in the city at 7.30am.

For something different, it's also unilaterally declared civves week. Make sure you come in any form of lycra OTHER than the BG kit. A crap prize, such as me buying your coffee, will be on offer for the person voted worst dressed.

Example follows:

See you Sunday.

Sundays Ride was left flexible as a "Roads Less Traveled" ride. However given the big week most people had last week with the TDU changes, we have decided a beach ride is in order.

As we are  "The Bastardi", here is the traditional TDU Italian Phrase that may be helpful on this year's ride.

  • A sausage with onion please - Una salsiccia con cipolla per favore
  • A sausage with no onion please - Una salsiccia senza cipolla per favore
  • Beer is the best recovery drink - La birra รจ la migliore bevanda di recupero

Meet

  • In the CIty at 7:30 am or,

The weather looks good for Sunday but Tuesday and Wednesday look like great days to taper for Saturday so get out and make the most of it.

I will issue our TDU ride post on Monday.
