Sunday Ride - Hahndorf via Freeway return

Cyclist seeks Hahndorf, objective Strudel 

This Sunday's Ride is Hahndorf via the normal Freeway route.

• Meet in the City at 7:30 am
• Or the Bollards at 8:30 am 

The Return as always will be discussed at coffee.

The numbers have been truly terrible the last few weeks with the big Easter break looming. Only 3 on the KKK and 1 for the Easter egg hunt. 

Please make an effort and try to get out for this one.

PS: Greg Turtur is closing down Mike Turtur Cycles and getting out of retail to concentrate on maintenance. He is having a closing down sale through to July when the shop shuts.

Sunday Ride - The Kat Killer Klassic

The BG's Cycling day of obligation, miss it and you will have to do penance!

Meet Hindmarsh Square @ 7:30 am or the Tower Hotel Car park @ 8.00 am

The Kat Killer Klassic is a loop out to Lobethal via Lenswood (78km from the city): 

Outbound via Norton Summit - Ashton, Basket Range, Forest Range, Lenswood - Lobethal, Cudlee Creek
Coffee at Cudlee Creek Caffe

Then Home via The Gorge, Stradbroke Rd, Montecute Rd - Adelaide or for the brave Corkscrew Rd - Montacute Rd - Adelaide

Short cut : From Lenswood - Fox Creek (Coldstore Rd) - Cudlee Creek - Gorge - ADL. 69km

The weather looks good for Sunday so looking forward to the ride.

For the new BG's

The Kat Killer Klassic honors the anniversary of an unfortunate mouse, one cats tragic death and Dave’s spectacular fall. For those not in the know, early 2009 David C, an original BG and mad cyclist took a bad fall when his paths crossed with a suicidal kitty that resulted in the cat ending up in Dave’s front wheel and subsequently jamming into his fork effectively stopping his front wheel ‘dead’ and ejecting him at speed into the bitumen. The cat survived the crash but passed away later that night.

The BG can’t thank the owner of the cat enough for her assistance with an unconscious David and we respectfully hope the cats death was not to traumatic – R.I.P.P.

Sunday Ride - No Excuses

So as Sunday is a No Excuses Club Ride.  Weather for Sunday is  Sunny 22 degrees and Light winds so no excuses about the weather this week.

This Sunday is the End of Daylight Savings and you will get an extra hours sleep. However as we will now have more light in the morning the Meeting time will remain at 7:30 am as per the available daylight policy.

Meeting Time is 7:30 am in the City

The usual route Port Road, Outer Harbor, Glenelg.

                                                                       

So good weather and an extra hour of sleep, No Excuses.

Here is the 2019/20 Ride guide.  I would like to thank Michael Richardson and Brian Virgo for helping plan this year. Last year worked well although we had a few more clangers than expected. This year I have incorporated the racing schedules for NCC and Masters and I will be updating the guide as those organisations publish their event calendars.  If you notice anything that we have got wrong, please yell.  

The Basics

• The First Sunday of the month is the no excuses Beach Ride. Outer Harbor via Port road 
• A couple of Roads Less traveled rides have been included to add some variety
• Winter Rides will follow the official start and end of winter.  They are all tagged as beach rides but we will meet in the city and choose from the close hill loops when weather permits
• 7:30 am / 8:00 am starts will be judged by the available daylight
• The Club lunch will be in December and is set down as a Beach Ride. 
• The official supported club charity ride remains the Fleurieu Fondo in November

Christmas and New Years 

• Christmas and New Years fall well clear of Sundays hence rides will be scheduled as normal

Whats Changed

• The TDU Reconnaissance ride has been binned due to the declining interest in the Challenge ride itself. 
• The Kersbrook loop suggested multiple times but not scheduled gets a run in this years program
• Some of the Pain Lives Here rides have been substituted for an extended version that will include a Swamp Rd - Gum Flat Rd return. This is to take advantage of having a decent coffee stop available at the Uraidla bakery. Uraidila come up far too quickly on the normal pain loop. With the extension this ride is 50 km to Coffee and 70 km total from the city (Norton's return).
• We have added a Gentlemen pace beach ride at the end of winter and will add another later that will coincide with Sunday Racing. 
• We have a added a bring a mate ride (Beach) to the schedule 
• The BG Individual Time Trial, the race of truth and lies returns. Just for a bit of fun.
• We are going to try to get a Saturday group (short beach) going
• We are going to try and schedule a long Ride outbound to a lunch destination either in the Barrossa or McClaren Vale with a non bike return option

This Sundays Ride is the Anything Can Happen ride 

Meet in the City at 7:30 am

At that point a civil discussion should take place and the group will decide the route.

I wont be riding so have a good one.

Sundays Ride - Hahndorf via the Roads Less Traveled

This Month has 5 Sundays so we have picked this week to mix it up a little without turning the dial all the way to epic.

The Ride is Hahndorf and return via the Road's less traveled. 

Meet in the City at 7:30 am

Outbound Route:

Unley Rd - Belair Rd - Windy Point - (regroup point at BP Service Station)
Sheaok Rd - right turn onto Upper Sturt Rd - through to National Park gates 
The Valley Rd through to Saddle Hill Rd, (regroup point at the Gates)
Sheaok Rd through to Stirling, Mt Barker Rd, Aldgate Valley Rd (regroup point at Mylor)
River Road through to Hahndorf

Coffee by consensus but Otto's by default 

Return Route to be decided at Coffee, by default either 
Option 1: Standard return (whats less traveled about this) 
Option 2: German Town hill, Old Mt Barker Rd

Peaks Challenge 
Congratulations to Mo and John for completing the Peaks challenge. I have done a bit of online stalking and John came in under 9 hours. Mo just missed out on going sub 10 hours That must have been frustrating. Well done boys.
